The Racebook
The pub screen in The Sticky Hoof is not decoration. It carries the real race, the same one running at the track, and the pub takes bets in gloo on it.
How a bet works
Walk up to the racebook, pick your horse, put down your gloo. The rules of the book:
- A bet is 1 to 500 gloo, and you can place up to 5 bets on one race.
- Everyone's stakes go into one pool. When the race settles, the souls who backed the winner split the whole pool, each in proportion to what they put down.
- The house keeps nothing. 5% of the pool is burned, gone from the world, the rest goes to the winners.
- The book closes 15 minutes before the bell, so nobody bets on a race that is already decided.
The honest rules
- The result is the same on chain result the track pays on. Nobody in the world can bend it.
- If a race is voided, or nobody picked the winner, every bet comes back in full.
- You do not have to be online for settlement. Win while you sleep and the gloo is in your pocket when you wake.
Why it matters
This is the first place the two halves of $GLUE touch: the track runs on chain, and the world bets on it in gloo. One more reason the pub is never empty.
