# Knacker's Pass

North of [the Mire](/gluebook/gluniverse-four-edges) the swamp gives up and the road climbs. Knacker's Pass is a snow mountain of switchbacks and cliffs, and it plays by harder rules than anywhere else in the world.

## Open PvP, all the way up

The whole mountain is **killable ground**. Any soul can strike any other, and going down here works like the [open Arena](/gluebook/gluniverse-arena): your whole bag and worn gear spill where you fall, unlocked from the first second. The one calm place is the **summit plateau** at the top of the road, a safe shelf where nobody can be hurt.

You arrive in the valley and climb toward safety. That direction is the whole zone: everything worth carrying is mined high and banked low, and the switchbacks between are where it gets taken.

## What the mountain holds

- **Frozen sap**, 12,000 of it, the world's only source. It exists to feed the forge.
- **Water**, a 6,000 pool of meltwater seeps, the same water the kiln drinks, at a price the walk down sets.
- **Iron fittings**, a 450 share of the world's 3,800.
- **Every keystone in the world**: the 1,500 pool sits here, and only the boss pays it out.
- **The frost forge**, on the summit: the one station that turns a glue long sword and 19 frozen sap into the [Frozen Long Sword](/gluebook/gluniverse-gear).

## Lil Knacker

At the top of the road, at the glue factory's door, stands the world's one boss. A knacker bought worn out horses and rendered them down. This one is still at his post, white with the cold that took him, and he still has two of his horses.

| | Lil Knacker |
|---|---|
| Health | **2,800** |
| Power | **52** |
| Level | **35**, never grey to anyone |
| XP | **2,400**, split by share of damage dealt |
| Respawns | every **hour**, announced 2 minutes ahead |

He fights like a player with everything turned up: a sword, a charging dash, a five tile leap that lands on you, a sidestep when you hit him, and a retreat that buys him room to dash back in. Two moves carry his cold. The **frost nova** deals nothing and chills everyone near him to **half speed** for 2 seconds. The **frost shard** is a ranged bolt that hits for less than his sword and **freezes** you solid for a second, with a 6 second immunity so it can never chain. And on a timer nobody can count, he enters a **frenzy**: about seven seconds of moving faster than any player alive, hitting harder, cooling down quicker.

At **half health** his two **Pale Nags** come trotting in from far up the road: 420 health and power 30 each, the fastest things in the game, opening with a double leap that stuns everyone under it. They exist only while he does.

## The rules of the fight

- **Participation is damage.** Deal at least **1%** of his health across his life and you are in: your own loot, your own share of the XP.
- **A hit locks you in.** Strike him or be struck by him and every exit refuses for **20 seconds** from the last contact: no zone edge, no recall, no waystone, no GPS. Nobody taps the boss and leaves.
- **The fight is a truce.** Everyone in his damage book is one group: none of you can hurt each other, even on this open PvP mountain, while the fight is live and for **60 seconds** after he dies. The truce lapses two minutes after the group's last contact with him, so tapping him once is never an all day shield.
- **The kill unlocks the mountain.** The moment he dies, the 5 minute [PvP travel lock](/gluebook/gluniverse-arena) clears for everyone the fight touched, damage dealt and damage taken both. A fresh hit afterwards arms the full window again, as always.

## The loot, per participant

Every participant rolls all of this independently, and every pile lands stamped to its owner for its whole life. Nobody can take yours.

| Drop | Chance |
|---|---|
| 3 frozen sap **or** a waystone shard | guaranteed, 57% the sap, 43% the shard |
| 2 rolled [charms](/gluebook/the-item-catalog), any of the original five kinds, never the craft only five | guaranteed, rarity 60% common, 25% uncommon, 12% rare, 3% legendary |
| a [Frozen Treasury](/gluebook/gluniverse-ocean) | 50% |
| a [cosmetic look](/gluebook/gluniverse-cosmetics) | 10% |
| a **keystone** | 5% |
| the **Frozen Long Sword**, rarity 70/22/7/1 | 3% |
| a **[relic](/gluebook/gluniverse-relics)**, tier 70% rare, 25% epic, 5% legendary | 2% |
| a **portable terminal** | 0.5% |

He is the only source of keystones and the only source of relics in the world. Four people up the Pass once an hour is how both enter it.

## Getting there

One gate, from the Mire's north edge. No waystone, no shortcut. The climb is the point.
