# Get started

Gluniverse is in **open beta** and runs in the browser on a desktop, a tablet or a phone. There is nothing to install.

## The door

Connect a Solana wallet (**Phantom, Solflare, Backpack** or any wallet that can sign a message) and **sign** once. There is no token to hold and no whitelist. Your wallet is your character.

Signing is **not a transaction**: no fee, no gas, and nothing leaves your wallet. It only proves the wallet is yours.

## Create your character

Name your soul, choose horse or human, pick a look, then enter with balanced stats or customize them. See [Make your character](/gluebook/gluniverse-make-your-horse).

## You start in the Foal Pen

New characters arrive in the **Foal Pen** with a 15-slot bag, their companion and **₲1,000**. No gear, no materials, no land. A welcome card offers **Learn the basics**, **Learn combat** and **Learn fishing**, or you can explore on your own. The lessons stay in the Menu under **Tutorial**. ## The controls in one breath

- **WASD** or the arrows to move, hold **Shift** to run, **Space** to jump and dodge.
- **E** does almost everything: talk, gather, shop, claim a plot, open a chest, take a door.
- **B** bag, **C** soul, **P** build, **V** craft, **M** map, **Enter** to chat.
- Your attacks unlock when you finish Learn combat. [Fighting](/gluebook/gluniverse-fighting) has the rest.

## Your progress follows your wallet

Sign in from anywhere and continue where you left off. To stop, use **Log out** rather than reloading: a reload leaves your body in the world for about 45 seconds, and it can be killed.
