# Careers and the Glue Factory

Horses do not die at the bell. They have **careers**.

## The permanent record

Every horse keeps a permanent record from race one: wins, losses, current loss streak, races run, and lifetime peak market cap. The site surfaces it in [The Stable](/gluebook/surfaces). The pitch shifts from "two hour lottery ticket" to "back this horse's career."

## The Glue Factory

A horse that records **5 losses in a row becomes glue**. Permanently retired. Never raced again, never reused, struck from the living roster, memorialized on the Glue Factory page.

Becoming glue is **retirement, not a token burn**. It is a scarcity and narrative mechanic. Deaths thin the roster, so the survivors, the proven and still alive horses, get more valuable. It literally delivers the promise: most horses become glue.

## Why this is the reason to hold

A single race pays at the bell. Careers are what make a coin worth holding past it. A horse with a real win record is a survivor, and survivors get rarer every race. When [The Gauntlet](/gluebook/the-gauntlet) arrives and the field races itself, those records are everything.
